Ingredients of Hot and Sour Sauce

  • 1 Kg Tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tsp Garlic, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 Tbsp Chilli powder
  • 1/4 Cup Vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp Sodium Benzoate (mixed with water)
  • Boiled Water

How to Make Hot and Sour Sauce

  • 1.Cook the tomatoes and garlic together till soft.
  • 2.Strain through a soup strainer, or blend in a blender and then pass through a sieve.
  • 3.Put it back over high heat, add sugar, salt, garam masala, chilli powder and vinegar and cook till thick.
  • 4.The mixture begins to spurt only in the centre, when ready.
  • 5.Take off the heat; add the sodium benzoate solution (a preservative) and store in airtight sterilised jars.
