Ingredients of Karnataka style Puran Poli

  • 1 Cup maida
  • 1 cup chana dal , soaked
  • 1/2 cup jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp haldi
  • 1 cups refined/neutral oil
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • A pinch of salt

How to Make Karnataka style Puran Poli

In a bowl, add maida, a pinch of salt, half of the haldi, some water and knead soft sticky dough.

Once kneaded, immerse the dough in oil and let it sit aside

Now in a pressure cook add soaked chana dal, half of the haldi, a little ghee and let it cook until soft.

Once cooked, strain the access water and remove the dal in a pan
5.
In the pan add jiggery and start mixing until all the jiggery melts
6.
Now keep cooking until the jiggery dries a little.
7.
Once the mixture is almost dry, add ghee and cardamom powder and mix some more.
8.
Now make a fine paste out of this mixture in a blender.
9.
Remove the fine paste in a bowl and make medium size balls out of the mixture.
10.
Get the dough and make medium sized cups to fill the stuffing, now cover from all sides ad start to roll
11.
Use a lot of oil while rolling and make a thin holige.
12.
Cook in a tawa and serve hot.
