Ingredients of Konkani Fried Chicken

  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into 1/2 inch strips
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 ½ tsp Malvani masala
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 quart oil for frying

In a large skillet, melt unsalted butter over medium heat. Add shallots and minced garlic, cooking until softened for 2-3 minutes.

 Marinate chicken strips in Malvani masala for 4-6 hours in the refrigerator.

In a bowl, mix egg and buttermilk.

In another bowl, mix all-purpose flour, seasoned bread crumbs, and salt.

Dip marinated chicken strips in the egg mixture, then coat with flour and bread crumb mixture.

Heat oil in a skillet to 375°F (190°C). Fry chicken until golden brown and juices run clear.

Drain fried chicken on paper towels before serving.
