This tahari recipe is made with succulent mutton pieces dipped in a pool of aromatic spices and of course mushy rice. If you are a die-hard fan of Hyderabadi cuisine and mutton recipes, then this recipe is all you need to satiate your exotic food cravings.

Ingredients of Mutton Tahari

  • 700 gms Mutton
  • 500 gram Basmati Rice
  • 2 small Sliced Onions
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp Hung Curd
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Coriander Leaves
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Mint leaves
  • For Garnishing Fried Onions

How to Make Mutton Tahari

Take a large container, add mutton pieces along with curd and ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, coriander leaves, chopped green chillies and mix everything well.

Keep aside for sometime.

Now take a pressure cook, add oil and heat it then add whole spices like cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and pepper corn. Let it splutter and then add sliced onions.

Cook until onion turns crisp and brown. Once done, add tomatoes and marinated mutton pieces. Mix again and let it cook until tomatoes turn mushy.

Add 1 cup water in the pressure cooker along with coriander leaves and green chilli. Then cover the lid and wait until one whistle.
6.
After that, open the pressure cooker and add basmati rice along with water as required.
7.
Cover the lid again and wait until 2-3 whistle.
8.
Serve and enjoy!
