Ingredients of Red Seer Fish Curry

  • 1 kg seer fish
  • 2 Tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or sunflower oil
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 10 pods garlic - each cut into 4, lengthwise
  • 1 inch piece of ginger-cleaned and ground
  • Curry leaves
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 1\2 tsp chilli powder
  • 3 green chillies - cut into 4
  • 1 1\2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups of water
  • 6 Tbsp coconut milk powder, dissolved in 2 teacups of warm water
  • Tamarind pulp
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Garnishing:
  • 2 tomatoes-cut into 6, lengthwise
  • 6 fresh red chillies

How to Make Red Seer Fish Curry

Wash and slice the fish.

Cut each slice into 4.

Put curry powder into a saucepan and roast it for a few seconds. Keep it aside.

For tempering:

1.
Keep a saucepan on low flame, add 1 spoon of coconut oil or sunflower oil, curry leaves, garlic, ginger, onions, cinnamon and saute.

To season the seer fish:

Add the chilli powder, roasted curry powder, turmeric powder, salt and green chilli cut lengthwise. Cook with 2 cups of water and tamarind pulp until the fish is done.

Lastly, add 6 tablespoons of coconut milk powder dissolved in 2 tea-cups of warm water. Cook for a few minutes.

Garnish with tomato and red chillies cut into flower shapes.
