Ingredients of Tomato Puree

  • 1 Kg Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Enough to submerge the tomatoes Hot water

How to Make Tomato Puree

Make a cross sign with a light cut, on the base of the tomatoes(not on the stalk side).

Place the tomatoes in a bowl, boil some water and pour over the tomatoes to cover.

When cool enough to handle, peel the tomatoes (the cross sign will make this easier). Chop the tomatoes roughly and blend in a blender and strain.

Cook over high heat first, add salt and sugar and cook till it is as thick as you would like-cook till it spurts in the center.

You can now freeze it as it is in convenient sized packs.

Alternatively, add 1 tsp sodium benzoate in 2 Tbsp boiled water and add to the puree. Pack it in sterilized air tight packs.
7.
Now in cold weather it can be stored at room temperature, and in the refrigerator in summer.
