This sweetened rice is perfect to amp up your festive binge as it makes for a whole meal in itself with a burst of flavours from all the traditional spices and nuts that are added to it. It is quite easy to make and the end result is totally worth the effort.
Saffron not just imparts an earthy flavour and subtle yellow colour to the rice, but also provides with many health benefits, which is why, the spice has long been used in traditional healing practices. Only a few strands of saffron will do the job.
This recipe shared by food vlogger Manjula Jain shows us how to make this sweet saffron rice with maximum ease and minimum hassle. Make rice the usual way but with the addition of cinnamon stick. Then dunk the rice in syrup made of milk, butter, sugar, saffron, cloves and cardamom. Garnish with roasted dry fruits and your festive-special sweet dish is ready.
