Holi is one of the biggest Indian festivals celebrated with a high-spirited and lively fervour. Besides smearing colours and splashing water on each other, people make sure to indulge in festive foods and drinks on this day. There are many foods and snacks that are associated with Holi - gujiya, shakarpara, nariyal ka ladoo and peda are some of them. Peda is an age-old traditional Indian sweet, which is soft and milky, and is loved by all of us. Why wait for someone to bring it for us all the way from Mathura, when you can make it in your own kitchen? And what better occasion there can be to try it than the festival of Holi?
This easy recipe by food vlogger Manjula Jain will let you make this Holi delicacy at home with a colourful twist. This peda is infused with the rich flavour of kesar (saffron). Usually, kesar peda is made with milk khoya, sugar and cardamom (elaichi); this kesar peda can be a unique addition to your festive menu. Kesar emits a beautiful and subtle yellow colour that will go with the theme of this full-of-colour festival.
