The evening had everything a food enthusiast could ask for - delectable food and a heavenly cocktail to go with it. Stranger & Sons partnered with The Bombay Canteen to host a pop up at The Lodi, Delhi, to celebrate the launch of Perry Road Peru - the first-of-its-kind in India - a single-batch, limited edition distilled cocktail. In one of the stops of the Perry Road Peru tour across the country, the pop up gave a whole new culinary experience, and the heady cocktail did its bit to level it up. With 'spirits' soaring high, it was definitely an evening to remember.
This 7-course dinner by The Bombay Canteen and Stranger & Sons is one that is truly Indian at heart! From Chaat and Chakna in a whole new avatar and Classics from the Canteen kitchen, to ingredients we chanced upon on our travels, every bite was sprinkled with a whole lot of deliciousness!
About Perry Road Peru:
Inspired by the humble and highly seasonal, pink guavas ('perus') that line the streets of Bombay twice a year, Stranger & Sons and The Bombay Canteen found the perfect muse to capture Bombay's spirit. Fresh, balanced and luscious, it lingers on the palate long enough to take you back to 'perus of days past and leaves you wanting more!
With an intoxicating aroma and a ripe, robust flavour, this limited edition cocktail is the perfect union of the potent peru and the 9 Indian botanicals in Stranger & Sons gin. Handpicked and peeled at their peak, ripe perus are slowly macerated for 6 hours and then distilled for another 18-till every drop is flush with freshness. And in typical Bombay fashion, this seasonal distilled cocktail comes with a generous pinch of chilli-salt mix. It can be enjoyed over ice in a rocks glass or topped up with tonic or soda in a highball, served with a spiced rim!
Balanced in flavour and flamboyant in hue, Perry Road Peru will be launching across the country this year covering Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi, Rajasthan and Goa. The bottled cocktail is expected to be available in select retail outlets. However, like the pink perus it's made with, the seasonal Perry Road Peru will also have a limited run in each city!
About Shubham BhatnagarYou can often find Shubham at a small authentic Chinese or Italian restaurant sampling exotic foods and sipping a glass of wine, but he will wolf down a plate of piping hot samosas with equal gusto. However, his love for homemade food trumps all.
