What comes to your mind when we say 'Rooh Afza'? The very first reply will surely be 'a refreshing drink'. It is basically a rose concentrate that we extensively use to prepare different types of desserts. But the popularity has gone to such extent that today, rose sherbet is synonymous to 'Rooh Afza' (just like instant noodles is equal to 'Maggi'). In fact, you will find at least one bottle of this red-coloured syrup in every Indian pantry. We use it to make sherbet, rose milk, rose kheer, falooda kulfi and more. While its versatility can't be denied, what adds on to the popularity is the sense of nostalgia. 'Rooh Afza' is all about our childhood memories. Right? It seems to be the same for Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. And we got to see it on her Instagram story.
One of the most active celebrities on Instagram, Sonam recently shared a video that features some interesting facts about 'Rooh Afza'. And we just loved it! We suggest, you take a look too.
In fact, it was interesting to know that this drink was first made with an intention of healing people. "Majeed's intention was to cure illnesses like heat stroke, dehydration and diarrhoea, making it a popular drink during scorching subcontinental summers," the video states.
That's not all. Rooh Afza was also the first sherbet ever which was presented in beautifully printed wrapper of butter-paper! Interesting; right?
