Gifting can be a tricky business. We often think about what to gift our near and dear ones on various occasions. Sometimes, we may think that a gift could be helpful but the recipient may think otherwise. And this leads to some truly hilarious situations! Recently, a Twitter user shared a funny incident about the time he gifted his mother a digital weighing scale. Rather than using it to track portion sizes and meals, she found another clever use for it that left the internet in splits. Take a look:
Before WFH ended, I bought my mom a small digital weighing scale for measuring portions to track calories accurately. 6 months later I visit home and find out that she's been using it to re-weigh the veggies she buys and create a ruckus if it's even 10 gm less.

The hilarious and relatable post about the digital weighing scale struck a chord with Indian users on Twitter. Many of them revealed that they had faced many similar situations in their own households as well. "In our home, it is used to measure the paneer and ghees the neighbourhood milkmen bring," wrote one user. "Ditto at my home," said another one. "My friend's mom orders food and compares it on all apps, sometimes she calculates the cost of ingredients, and says ye to ghar pe bann jayega araam se, no need to order," shared another user on Twitter.

I did the same and now she doesn't eat anything which is junk and keeps tracks of her calories everyday. The bad part is she doesn't allow me to eat too 🥲— Divya Jain (@imdivi_jain) February 26, 2023
Haha. I think this would hold true for Middle class moms in general.— Mad4mushroom (@rever_25) February 26, 2023
