Badeel is a deep fried Kumauni snack made with dal paste and light flavorsome seasoning.

Ingredients of Badeel

  • 2 cups masoor daal
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp coriander and green chilli paste
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • 5 Tbsp oil to deep fry

How to Make Badeel

  • 1.Soak the daal in water and leave overnight and grind to a paste the next day.
  • 2.To the daal, add the garlic paste, coriander-green chilli paste, garam masala and salt and mix well.
  • 3.In a pan, heat the oil and add the prepared mixture and cook for 15-25 minutes.
  • 4.Grease a steel plate all over with oil and add the prepared paste and spread well and leave aside for an hour.
  • 5.Cut this into small pieces and deep-fry in oil and serve with pudhina chutney
