Ingredients of Matar Paneer Tikki

  • 1 Cup boiled green peas
  • 200 gram paneer (cottage cheese), crumbled
  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for shallow frying

Heat a little oil in a pan and saute the finely chopped onions until they turn translucent.

Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chillies, and saute for a minute.

Stir in the boiled green peas, crumbled paneer, cumin powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, and salt.

Cook this mixture for 5-7 minutes. Set it aside to cool.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes with a pinch of salt and half of the breadcrumbs.

Knead the mixture to form a soft dough. If it's too sticky, add more breadcrumbs.

Take a small portion of the potato mixture and flatten it in your palm.

Place a spoonful of the prepared matar paneer filling in the centre.
9.
Carefully enclose the filling with the potato mixture, shaping it into a round patty.
10.
Coat the tikki with the remaining breadcrumbs.

Deep fry or shallow fry the tikkis until they turn golden brown and crisp on both sides.
