About Palkatti Chettinadu Recipe: Cottage cheese (paneer) cooked in a gravy made with mustard seeds, urad daal, curry leaves, onions, tomatoes and a freshly chettinad paste.

Ingredients of Palkatti Chettinadu
- For the chettinad paste:
- 2 tsp oil
- 100 gms coriander seeds
- 2 Coconuts (ground to a paste)
- 10 gms cloves
- 10 Cinnamon sticks
- 10 Cardamoms
- 2 tsp cumin
- 2 tsp fennel seeds
- 30 gms peppercorns
- 5 gram kalpasi
- 10 Star anise
- 20 gms ginger
- 20 gms garlic
- 10 gms whole red chillies
- 10 gms khuskhus (poppy seeds))
- small onions, chopped
- For the main dish:
- 1 tsp sesame (til)
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp urad dal
- 8-10 Curry leaves
- 1 cup onions, chopped
- 1 cup tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 cup water
- 3 tsp Chettinad paste
- 20 Cottage cheese cubes
- Oil
How to Make Palkatti Chettinadu

Shallow fry the cottage cheese.

Soak the cheese in water with a little salt and turmeric powder for approx 5 minutes.
For the paste:
1.
Heat oil in a pan and add all the paste ingredients and mix well.

For the main dish, heat oil in a pan.

Add the mustard seeds, urad daal, curry leaves, chopped onions, tomatoes, salt, coriander leaves, red chilli powder, water and mix well.

Add the chettinad paste and the cottage cheese to this and cook for 10 minutes.
5.
Garnish with the fried chillies, tomatoes, coriander leaves and serve with hot idlis.
