About Tinda Masala Recipe: Tinda is a popular vegetable in India and other parts of South Asia. Also known as 'Indian squash', 'round melon' or 'apple gourd', Tinda is cooked into a delicious Indian curry, full of spicy and aromatic flavours. Tindsi in Rajasthan, or dhemese in Marathi, this vegetable has different names and variations in different regions and is a great lunch option in Indian homes. You can serve it with roti or paratha.

Ingredients in Tinda Masala Recipe: Stir-fried tinda tossed in oil and cooked with spices like red chilies, green chillies and garam masala. This masaledar tinda recipe is a quick and easy one, made under 30 minutes and goes well with any Indian bread.

Ingredients of Tinda Masala

  • 1/2 Kg Tinda (scraped and cut into 6-8 pieces lengthwise)
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp Coriander (dhania) powder
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder (lal mirch powder)
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 2-3 Green chillies (slit)
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves (dhaniya), chopped

How to Make Tinda Masala

  • 1.Heat the oil and add cumin seeds.
  • 2.When the seeds begin to splutter, add the green chillies and tinda, and stir-fry 2-3 times.
  • 3.Add coriander powder, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, and the garam masala. Stir to mix well.
  • 4.Cover and cook over low heat, stirring a few times till cooked.
  • 5.Serve masaledar tindas hot garnished with coriander leaves.
