As someone who has always been drawn to the mountains and the peaceful serenity they offer, I was excited to hear about Barefoot Bungalow - Buranshkhanda. Nestled between Mussoorie and Dhanaulti, this bungalow promised to be a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Upon arriving at Barefoot Bungalow, I was immediately struck by the sprawling garden that surrounds the property. On one side, the majestic Himalayas loom in the distance, while on the other, dramatic valleys stretch out as far as the eye can see. It was truly a breathtaking sight.
Stepping inside the bungalow, I was immediately greeted by the gorgeous interiors. A mix of bohemian and colonial styles, the decor was both eclectic and inviting. Each of the three bedrooms was more stunning than the last, with the highlight being a pastor bed in one of the rooms. The rooms were cosy, with heated floors and self-heating mattresses, adding an extra touch of luxury.
The living room was a true masterpiece, with wall-sized windows that provided an uninterrupted view of the stunning landscape outside. The furniture was equally impressive, with comfortable couches and chairs that made me feel right at home. And, to top it all off, there was even an in-house bonfire where we could relax and unwind after a long day of exploring.
But it wasn't just the physical beauty of the bungalow that made our stay so special. The owner of Barefoot Bungalow, Harpal Gulati, takes great care to ensure that his guests have a comfortable stay. The bungalow was originally built for his own use, but he decided to share this slice of paradise with others. And let me tell you, he's done a fabulous job. Harpal's personal touch is evident in every aspect of the bungalow, from the decor to the service. He made sure that we had everything we needed and even provided us with insider tips on the best local sights and activities.
Of course, no staycation review would be complete without mentioning the food. Chef Arjun Chhetri prepared a mix of Garhwali, Mughlai, and Punjabi dishes that were simply mouth-watering. The authentic flavours and spices made each meal a true delight and having a personal chef meant that we could enjoy our meals at our own pace.
Apart from the bungalow's gorgeous interiors and fantastic food, the sprawling garden was the perfect place for a morning stroll or an evening bonfire. The peace and quiet of the surroundings make it an ideal spot to unwind and relax. And if you're in the mood for some adventure, you can take a hike in the nearby hills or go on a nature walk.
About Shubham BhatnagarYou can often find Shubham at a small authentic Chinese or Italian restaurant sampling exotic foods and sipping a glass of wine, but he will wolf down a plate of piping hot samosas with equal gusto. However, his love for homemade food trumps all.
