When we think of chips, the first recipe that people swear by is the classic potato chips. But it is no secret that potato chips are not the healthiest food on any menu. What if we told you that you can swap your potato for a healthier alternative that is equally tasty. We are talking about yam chips. Yam is a tuber vegetable that is packed with nutrients and is also an excellent source of fibre, potassium and manganese. Now, chef Saransh Goila has shared a recipe to make a yummy bowl of yam chips within minutes in the comfort of your home. The chef has named the recipe, “Purple yam Chips,” referring to the purple tinge that the vegetable lends to the dish.
Here's what you need to make the yam chips:
- Peeled yams - 2
- Masala mix of your preference
Follow these steps to make the crispy chips:
- Peel the yams and slice them. The chef recommends using a Mandoline slicer.
- Soak the yam slices for 10 minutes in lightly salted water.
- Pat the yam slices dry and sprinkle salt on them
- Deep fry the slices in oil till they are crispy -- for approximately 7-8 minutes
- Top the chips with a masala mixture of your choice to add a touch of spice.
Sharing the recipe, Saransh Goila wrote, “Purple Yam Chips. What a beauty this is? Matlab Bridgerton ke characters ki tarah kaafi Sundar yeh chip aur yeh gaana, aaj hai humein khaana. (These chips are just as beautiful as the characters of Bridgerton). I hope you enjoy this super easy Kand Chip at home…”
