If someone had told us a year ago that a song about peanuts would be going crazy viral on social media, it would be understandably hard to believe them. However, in a span of just a single month, 2022 has managed to achieve this unimaginable feat and how! Among the very first social media trends and most viral songs this year is the 'Kacha Badam' song. Unless you have been living under a rock, you would know of this addictive tune that has caught the fancy of millions of users on Instagram. Popular influencers and dancers are now shaking a leg to the beats of this catchy song and raking in views by the minute. But how did the Kacha Badam song originally come into existence? What made it the sensation that it is today? Here's all you need to know.
As you can imagine, the Kacha Badam song originated from the most unlikely of sources. The song is the brainchild of Bhuban Badyakar, a peanut-seller from West Bengal. He is a resident of the Kuraljuri village in Lakshminarayanpur Panchayat of Birbhaum district. Badyakar travels to nearby villages and sells peanuts by weight in exchange for bangles, trinkets and other valuables. The Kacha Badam song is his way of attracting new customers and announcing his arrival to them.
The Kacha Badam song was first captured and shared on YouTube by a channel called 'Ektara'. Badyakar's humble tune has, in a span of 2 months, clocked in over 21 million views. Take a look at the original un-edited Kacha Badam song here:

The viral video of the Kacha Badam song on YouTube soon spilled over to other platforms including Instagram. Singer and musician Nazmu Reachat then created a peppy remix of Badyakar's tunes and set the internet's foot tapping. Check out the first ever remixed version of Kacha Badam song here:

The rest, as they say, is history. The song about Kacha Badam or peanuts became the go-to jingle that struck a chord among millions of Instagram users. Food bloggers are creating recipes to this, while choreographers share their own dance interpretations to the music. Bhuban Badyakar, meanwhile, appealed to the local police to help him get his rightful dues on creating the viral music. Not all is lost, though, as reports suggest Badyakar may be making an appearance on a reality show with Sourav Ganguly.
