There is always a trail of food trends, one springing over right after another. From Dalgona coffee to chocolate biryani, we saw some of the weirdest and also the impressive food fads in recent time. We were not even done crushing over the most recent feta pasta and the likes of it when this food took the world of internet by storm and amused us yet again. Little Moons, a Japanese sweet snack, is all the rage these days. The tiny, round ice cream balls in pretty colours enthralled foodies, especially in the UK, with its unique looks and taste.
So, what really is Little Moons?
Whoever read about this trending food with hashtag #littlemoons everywhere on social media, has been wondering about it. Little Moons is an age-old Japanese dessert that came to the fore for the rest of the world now. It is a round ball made with ice cream and mochi, which is a traditional Japanese steamed rice cake. Mochi is usually made with rice mixed with sugar and cornstarch.

The bite-sized Little Moons are gluten-free and supposedly do not contain artificial flavours. They are sweet in taste and chewy in texture. Other than Japan, Little Moons are selling like hotcakes in Europe now, and we only wish to have a bite of it sometime soon.
