Artificial Intelligence tools like ChatGPT are all the rage today. People have been amused, stunned and even frightened by the capacity of such software. We have already begun seeing impressive images of AI-generated art. ChatGPT also made headlines recently when people asked it to take competitive exams. While such experiments are interesting, it can also be exciting to try using such tools to improve everyday life. A recent viral Tweet provides an interesting example of just that. Twitter user, Ammaar Reshi (@ammaar), took to the platform yesterday to share his experience doing grocery shopping with the help of ChatGPT. The results left him as well as many other users impressed.

Reshi provided screenshots of his conversation with the chatbot as well as his online shopping cart. He also posted an image of the groceries that were finally delivered to him. He said that his attempt at AI-assisted grocery shopping "worked so well." According to his caption, the software managed to take into consideration multiple criteria such as budget, preferences, schedule and dietary restrictions. ChatGPT also provided recipes for the meals. Sounds rather incredible, doesn't it? Check out the tweet below:
I asked ChatGPT to buy my groceries today using @Instacart's plug-in and it worked so well!
- Stayed within my budget
- Provided ingredients and recipes for 7 meals (including some favorites!)
- Accounted for my schedule and diet

Others had questions regarding how it all actually works. A few people also expressed concern regarding AI making nutritional choices for us. Read some of the reactions below:
Niice, that's one step further than I thought - asked it to create a high protein meal plan within a few food genres, then to make a grocery list sorted by section of store.
But your addition takes it from helpful meal planner to a competitive edge for groceries even? Very cool!— blurbs 🎶 (@blurb_istheword) April 12, 2023
Wow this is insane!

hahah a lot of outrage about that in the replies but I think it was going by the recipe recommendations + asian cooking/stir fry typically revolves around vegetable oil.— Ammaar Reshi (@ammaar) April 12, 2023
