We can all agree that meal preparation indeed is an arduous task, sometimes even more than cooking itself. The process of washing vegetables, cutting them into small pieces and making everything ready takes up plenty of time. With practice and patience, however, we develop a certain speed in completing these mundane processes. Recently, we saw a video that proves this to be very true. A food blogger on Instagram showed us a sneak peek of how her Mexican mother chopped up vegetables without even requiring a chopping board. This clip has left the internet seriously impressed. The clip was originally shared by blogger @daisypartyoftres, and it was reposted by the account @foodingwitme in the Instagram Reels section. The video went viral, receiving over 3.6 million views and 130k likes. "Mexican moms built different," read the caption to the clip.
In the viral video of the Mexican lady, we could see her holding some kind of squash or summer vegetable. She was holding the vegetable in her hand with a razor-sharp knife in the other. First, she made cuts from the top to create lateral sections. She then sliced off the vegetable horizontally to get plenty of small pieces in one go.
The fact that she was able to do it without the use of a chopping board impressed internet users a lot. "Wow, I would have lost my hand," wrote one user in the comments while another said, "Who needs a cutting board anyways!" Others said that mothers and grandmothers of all ethnicities had this level of expertise in cutting as shown in the viral video. "Indian moms too," quipped one user.
