The year 2022 is finally coming to an end and it seems that time just flew by. While looking back at the year, there were a number of interesting food trends that emerged. Overnight oats, for instance, were one of the most-searched recipes on Google. Swiggy, meanwhile, revealed that Biryani was once again the top ordered item on the food delivery application. And now, another new report by cinema chain INOX reveals some insights into the food and dining trends of cinemagoers in the year 2022. As per the report, there was a city in India that ate more momos than even Delhi! Here's all you need to know.
INOX cinemas released its Cinema Food Report for the year 2022, encapsulating the food choices of 70 million cinema-goers. Believe it or not - Kolkata beat Delhi in the list of top momo eaters! Of the 10.96 lakh pieces of dim sums served in 2022, Kolkata ordered a whopping 2.21 lakh. Delhi, meanwhile, was only at 79,436 pieces as per the report.

Of course, the top ordered items were popcorn and cola drinks - but one interesting Indian food item that people loved eating while watching movies was Samosa. As per the report, the cinema sold 19.38 lakh samosas in 2022 - which if lined up back to back, would reach from Mumbai to Valsad at a distance of 179 km! Other popular items that foodies in the theatre enjoyed included French fries, sandwiches, burgers and pizzas. In terms of drinks, cola, chai, coffee and green tea were most ordered in 2022. Vegan burgers also generated much curiosity as per the report.
Interestingly, Indians also displayed a sweet tooth according to the report. Even while watching movies, cinemagoers preferred to enjoy ice cream and donuts which were the top-ordered items. People also loved desi-Chinese food, as dishes like dim sums, noodles and fried rice were relished by foodies.
