Coconut Meat Curry

Mutton pieces are cooked together with crispy brown onions and a creamy blend of masalas and coconut milk.

Ingredients of Coconut Meat Curry

  • 1 kg mutton, cut into curry sized pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 12-15 curry leaves
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 cup grated onions
  • 4 cardamoms and cloves each
  • 1 cup grated tomatoes
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Coriander leaves for garnish.

How to Make Coconut Meat Curry

  • 1.Marinate meat in ginger-garlic paste, chilli powder and turmeric, leave for 6 hours.
  • 2.Heat oil and add cumin, curry leaves followed by onions.
  • 3.Stir-fry till onions are brown.
  • 4.Add cardamoms and cloves and stir-fry till they get a little dark.
  • 5.Add meat over high heat and stir fry till opaque.
  • 6.Lower the heat and cook till water has been absorbed and fat separates.
  • 7.Add tomatoes and cook till fat separates.
  • 8.Finish by adding coconut milk and water.
  • 9.Bring to a boil, simmer for a couple of minutes.
  • 10.Serve hot garnished with the coriander leaves.
