If you love having dal in different forms, here is another delicious way you can include it in your daily diet. A scrumptious north Indian dal dumpling that you must try, it’s called – Dal Farra.

Ingredients of Dal Farra

  • 1 Cup Rice Flour/ Whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Urad Dal
  • 1/2 cup Chana Dal
  • 1/2 cup Matar Dal
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Halid
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 4-5 Cloves Garlic
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 5-8 Curry Leaves
  • Hing
  • to taste Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt according to taste

How to Make Dal Farra

In a bowl wash and soak chana, urad and matar dal for 2-3 hours.

Once done, put the dal mix in grinder. Add garlic and chilies too. Make a fine paste.

Mix salt, red chilli powder, haldi, garam masala and cumin seeds to the dal mix and let it sit.

Knead a soft dough with rice flour/whole wheat flour, water and some salt. Make tiny puri.
5.
Place the dal mix on one side of the puri and fold with the other side.
6.
Prepare a steamer and steam the Farra for around 20 minutes.
7.
Once done, take off the heat and keep aside.
8.
In another pan heat some oil, crackle mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, add the steamed farra and sauté for a couple of minutes.
9.
Cut in the middle or make rough three slices and enjoy.
