Straight from the Himalayan hills, an exotic noodle soup with tender meat seasoned with dried cheese, pepper and coriander.

Ingredients of Mutton Thukpa

  • 3-4 Tbsp oil
  • 1/2 kg mutton (with bones)
  • 2 daikon radish, julienne
  • 2 carrots, julienne
  • 2 onions, julienne
  • 2-3 tsp strong dried cheese
  • 1 pkt of egg noodles
  • 1 tsp ginger, finely sliced
  • 1/2 tsp whole black pepper
  • A jug of water
  • Salt to taste
  • A handful of coriander, roughly chopped

How to Make Mutton Thukpa

  • 1.Season the meat with salt. Heat the oil in a deep vessel, sear the meat on both sides and remove.
  • 2.In the same vessel, saute the onions till soft. Add the meat, water and all the vegetables.
  • 3.Sprinkle the dried cheese, pepper and more salt if required.
  • 4.Add the coriander, cover and let it simmer for 2 hours or till the meat is tender.
  • 5.Then gently place the noodles on top and cook for a few more minutes.
  • 6.Serve hot.
