Traditionally made with a combination of lentils, this medu vada is made using rava. It is easy to make and super crunchy. You can have it as an evening snack or even pair it with some piping hot sambar for a wholesome breakfast.

Ingredients of Rava Medu Vada

  • 1 cup Rava (suji)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tbsp Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 1 Green chilli (chopped)
  • 2-3 Curry leaves
  • to taste Salt
  • Oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper (crushed)

First, we need to cook the rava. Add water, oil and salt in a kadai. Mix well and allow it to boil.

Once it boils, add rava. Keep stirring it until it absorbs all the water.

Cover and let it simmer for sometime. Once done, transfer the cooked rava to a bowl.

Add curry leaves, pepper, cumin, chilli, chopped coriander and lemon juice. Mix well.

Now, make a large ball-sized shape of the mixture and flatten it slightly. Make a hole in the center.

Heat some oil in a pan. Deep fry the vadas on medium flame until they become golden brown.
7.
Rava medu vada is ready! Serve hot with ketchup, coconut chutney or piping hot sambar.
