Ingredients of Sabut Moong ki Dal

  • 1 cup moong sabut (whole green gram)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup grated tomatoes
  • 2-3 green chillies-slit
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp powdered coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp chilli powder

How to Make Sabut Moong ki Dal

  • 1.Pick, clean and wash the dal and cook with the water, salt, ginger and turmeric, till soft.
  • 2.Heat the oil in a pan, and add the cumin and bayleaves.
  • 3.When the seeds splutter, add the tomatoes and stir fry till the fat separates.
  • 4.Add the green chillies, garam masala, coriander powder and chilli powder and mix well.
  • 5.Add the dal to this mixture and bring to a boil, and then simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • 6.Serve hot garnished with the coriander leaves. You can adjust the consistency by increasing or decreasing water.
