Be it a simple namak pare or yummy tea cakes - we always keep different types of snacks in stock to indulge. However, if you look around, there is much more than these regular tea-time snacks. One such example is crunchy fried poha. It is not only easy-to-make, but also tastes great with a hot cup of chai.
Poha (or chiwda) needs no separate introduction. It is known to be an absolute essential dish for several people in India. Whether you like it as a light breakfast meal or a crunchy savoury snack (chiwda), poha undoubtedly holds a universal appeal. This versatile ingredient can be prepared in various ways for serving various purposes.
Here we bring you two recipes of crunchy fried poha (sweet and savoury) that can be a quick fix for your evening hunger pangs.

How To Make Crunchy Fried Poha | Crunchy Fried Poha Recipe
Ingredients:
Poha/chiwda - 2 cups
Peanuts: a little less than half cup
Curry leaves- 8-10
Black pepper powder- half teaspoon
Whole red chilli powder- 1
Onion- half (chopped)
Green chilli- 1 (chopped)
Salt- as per taste
Sugar- as per taste
Oil- 2 tablespoons
Method:
Heat a kadhai with some oil.
Fry the peanuts and keep them aside.
Add the red chilli and curry leaves to the kadhai and fry for half-a-minute.
Now, add the chiwda and fry all the ingredients together till chiwda turns crispy. Do not burn any of the ingredients.
Add salt, sugar, black pepper powder, peanuts, onion and green chilli and mix everything together. Switch off the flame.
Variation:
You can also make a sweeter version of this fried poha. For this, you need to:
Fry 2 cups chiwda with a pinch of salt.
Add half cup freshly grated coconut, one teaspoon ghee and a handful of sugar to it.
Mix everything together and serve.
Whichever version you make, serve it hot with a 'kadak' cup of chai and enjoy the evening. Happy snacking!
