One of the most popular Hindu festivals, Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu as per scriptures. The festival is celebrated with a much fervour by Hindus around the world. According to Hindu scriptures, it is believed that Krishna would kill his uncle Kansa and save people from his cruelties. It is also widely known that Lord Krishna was fundamental to the win of Pandavas in the epic battle of Mahabharata.
