About Aloo Matar Rasedaar Recipe: A popular North Indian recipe that is easy and can be cooked in just 30 minutes at home with a few simple steps. This Aloo Matar recipe is a gravy dish that is a perfect option for a lunch or dinner menu. Ingredients in Aloo Matar Rasedaar Recipe: Chunks of potatoes and peas tossed together in a masaledar, tomato gravy along with a host of spices and herbs.

Ingredients of Aloo Matar Rasedaar

  • 2 Cups Potatoes (cubed), boiled
  • 2 Cups Green peas (shelled)
  • 3-4 Green chillies (slit a little)
  • For the Gravy:
  • 250 Gram Onions (ground with garlic & ginger), chopped
  • 1 tsp Garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 tsp Ginger, chopped
  • 125 Gram Tomato (or 1/4 cup puree), grated
  • 1/4 Cup Oil
  • 2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 Tbsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper, powdered
  • 1 Tbsp Coriander seeds, powdered
  • 1 Tbsp Coriander leaves (for garnish), chopped

How to Make Aloo Matar Rasedaar

  • 1.Heat oil and add the cumin seeds and the bay leaves.
  • 2.When the seeds begin to splutter, add the onion paste and saute till fat separates.
  • 3.Add the tomatoes or puree, turmeric, salt, garam masala, red pepper and the coriander powder, and stir-fry till fat separates.
  • 4.Add the peas, potatoes and the green chillies and saute over high heat till the vegetables look glossy.
  • 5.Add 2 cups of water, bring to a boil and simmer, for 10-15 minutes.
  • 6.Serve hot, garnished with the coriander leaves.
