Ingredients of Chicken Kondattam

  • 500 gms Chicken Chunks (Boneless preferably)
  • 1 cup Sliced Shallots/Onions
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves
  • 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 tbsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 4-5 Dried Red Chillies
  • Tomato ketchup/soya sauce
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Chicken Kondattam

In a bowl take the chicken, add lime juice, some salt, 2 tbsp. red chilli powder, ½ tsp black pepper powder, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, cornflour and mix well.

Make sure the chicken is coated properly with the mixture.

Let this sit for at least 30 minutes. After which, fry the chicken pieces for around 4 minutes on both sides in low flame.

In another pan, add curry leaves, dried red chilli, ginger garlic paste, onions and fry until the onions are pinkish brown.

Now add the remaining red chilli powder, black pepper powder, Haldi and salt.

Mix everything well and add soy sauce or ketchup whichever is available.

Once the masala is soft, you may add water if it looks too dry.

Toss in the fried chicken, coat the masala well and let this cook for another 5-10 minutes. Garnish with some fresh curry leaves and chopped chillies and serve hot.
