Fish fillets marinated with salt and lemon juice. Coated with flour, breadcrumbs, eggs and deep fried till golden. Served with a creamy tartar sauce.

Ingredients of Fried Fish with Tartar Sauce

  • 8 fish fillets
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg-slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powdered
  • Bread crumbs
  • Oil for deep frying
  • For the Tartar Sauce:
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 onion-chopped fine
  • 1 tomato, de-seeded and chopped very fine
  • 2 Tbsp chopped celery
  • 1/4 tsp salt

How to Make Fried Fish with Tartar Sauce

  • 1.Marinate the fish in the salt and lemon juice for half an hour.
  • 2.Wash the fish and wipe dry and dip it in the seasoned flour, dusting off any excess flour.
  • 3.Now dip the fish into the beaten egg and then into the powdered breadcrumbs, taking care not to wet the rest of the crumbs.
  • 4.Repeat the egg and crumb treatment once more and keep the fish aside till ready to fry.
  • 5.Mix the sauce ingredients together, for the Tartar Sauce.
  • 6.Just before serving, heat the oil and deep-fry the fish to a golden brown.
