This Middle Eastern staple can be an appetizer or an accompaniment to a main course of grilled chicken.

Ingredients of Hummus

  • 1 cup chick peas (white chana)
  • 6-7 cloves garlic
  • 6-7 tsp lemon juice
  • 3-4 tsp sesame seeds - roasted
  • 5-6 tsp olive oil
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ground pepper - a pinch
  • Paprika - a pinch

How to Make Hummus

  • 1.Soak the chick peas overnight and boil with little salt.
  • 2.Drain and keep some liquid for blending.
  • 3.Add all the ingredients in a mixie except the paprika and blend to form a smooth paste, adding olive oil gradually.
  • 4.Garnish with some more olive oil and paprika.
  • 5.Serve with pita bread and sauteed vegetables.
