About Puttu: This steamed rice cake cooked with coconut shavings is extremely popular in Kerala and can be relished with kadala curry, egg curry and even ripe bananas.

Ingredients of Puttu

  • 1 Kg Rice flour
  • 1 Coconut, grated
  • to taste Salt
  • 200 ml Water

How to Make Puttu

  • 1.Roast the rice powder till it becomes golden brown in color. Strain the rice powder and mix it with water and salt.
  • 2.Layer the puttu maker with some grated coconut, then with rice mixture and with coconut again.
  • 3.Steam for 2-3 minutes, take out and serve hot.
