About Stuffed Idlis: A healthy udipi breakfast of idli with a stuffing of dal, nuts and vegetables. A light meal to enjoy! These are healthy since they are filled with vegetables and lentils.

Ingredients of Stuffed Idlis

  • 3 cups rice
  • 1 cup urad wash stuffing
  • 1 tsp pistachios - blanched
  • 1 Tbsp roasted cashew nut
  • 1 Tbsp green and red bell peppers - diced
  • 1 Tbsp pickle masala
  • 1 tsp kasoori methi
  • 1 Tbsp carrot - sliced

How to Make Stuffed Idlis

  • 1.Soak rice and urad dal and wet grind to make batter.
  • 2.Set aside to ferment.
  • 3.Brush idli tray with oil.
  • 4.Place ingredients of the stuffing, mixed or separate in the centre of each idli space.
  • 5.Pour the fermented mixture over the stuffing.
  • 6.Steam until idlis are cooked.
  • 7.Serve hot.

Recipe Notes

You can even use a aliy steamer if you have that once the water starts steaming.
