The much-awaited festival of Chaitra Navratri is set to begin tomorrow from 25th March 2020 and preparations have already begun. The nine-day festival will end on 2nd April 2020 with Ashtami falling on 1st April and Ram Navami on the last day. Devotees worship the nine incarnations of Durga during the festival. While some people observe fast throughout the period or on the first and the last day, some people try to stick to 'satvik' food made without onion, garlic and regular flours.
Traditional Indian desserts are a huge part of the festival as they are for any other special occasion in India. If you want to make a dessert that is not just empty calories and contains some nutrition as well, this lauki ki kheer could be your pick. We try to consume lauki (bottle gourd) as often as possible due to its various health benefits. Lauki ki sabzi without onion and garlic might not appeal to your family, especially kids. So make this delicious and full-of-nutrients lauki ki kheer during Navratri.
Food vlogger Reshu shared this recipe video on her YouTube channel 'Cooking With Reshu'. You just need one lauki/bottle gourd, some cardamom (elaichi), dry fruits, ghee (clarified butter), full cream milk, and of course, sugar to sweeten it. Grated lauki is cooked in milk along with other ingredients. This kheer is as easy to make as any other kheer you keep preparing at home. Try this kheer during this festival of Navratri 2020 and rest assured your family will love it
