Special occasion mutton curried with yoghurt, tomatoes and saffron

Ingredients of Chinioti Mutton Machhli

  • 10 pcs lamb shank (mutton machhli), whole - 6 inches
  • 200g desi ghee
  • 2 tbsp ginger, chopped
  • 1-1/2 tsp garlic, chopped
  • 100g spring onions
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 3 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 tsp onion seeds
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp red chilli, crushed
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp dry ginger powder
  • 1 tsp (heaped) saffron
  • 1 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 bunch coriander, chopped
  • 2 tbsp mint, chopped

How to Make Chinioti Mutton Machhli

  • 1.Wash lamb shanks.
  • 2.In desi ghee, saute ginger, garlic, spring onions, tomatoes and green chillies.
  • 3.Put mutton machhli and then add the spices except dry ginger, saffron and yogurt.
  • 4.Saute it for 10 minutes and then add water. Then let it simmer for 25-30 minutes.
  • 5.Then add the remaining ingredients and cook it again for 10-15 minutes.
  • 6.Garnish with coriander and mint. Serve hot with naan.
