Ingredients of Dahi Pakodi

  • For pakoris:
  • 1 cup dhuli moong dal (soaked in water for 5 hours)
  • Oil for frying
  • For dahi:
  • 1 cup yogurt (beaten smooth)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp black rock salt
  • 1/2 cup coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder, powdered
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp black salt

How to Make Dahi Pakodi

Prepare Pakodis:

Drain the water from dhuli moong dal and grind it to a very fine paste. Take the paste in a wide bowl.

Add salt, coriander seeds and coriander leaves to the paste.

Whip the ingredients in the pan together to a smooth paste.

Now heat the oil and deep fry small balls or pakodis made out of the lentil paste.

Lower the heat to medium, and let the pakodis fry till golden on all sides. This takes about 3-4 minutes.

Lift the pakodis out of the oil and soak them in water for about 2-3 minutes. Continue till all the batter is used up.

Prepare Dahi:

Add salt, black salt, cumin powder, red chilli powder and black pepper powder to the bowl of curd.

Mix them well and dip the pakodis in the curd mixture.

Mix the pakodis well with the curd and arrange on the serving plate.

Garnish with the rest of the spices and coriander leaves. Serve chilled.
