Finally, we leave behind the days of merciless sun heat and embrace the goodness of cool winds and pleasant weather. Yes, we are talking about enjoying the monsoon. This season makes us feel refreshed and happy after the extreme summer heat. However, this is also the season when we experience hair fall and damage a little more than in other seasons. This is because of the humidity, which weakens our hair follicles, leading to increased hair fall. While this is a common problem during monsoon, increased hair fall can shake our confidence. 5 Nutritionist-Approved Tips To Reduce Hair Fall During Monsoon
1. Take Omega 3 Supplements
For maintaining healthy hair, omega-3 fatty acids are a must. They help nourish hair follicles and promote hair growth. According to nutritionist Leema Mahajan, if you are not taking supplements, include omega-3-rich foods like hemp hearts, flaxseeds, walnuts, and chia seeds in your diet to provide you with the necessary nutrients to strengthen your hair from within.
2. Add Curry Leaves To Your Diet
Curry leaves are packed with amino acids, antioxidants, and beta-carotene, which are essential for hair health. Add 7-8 curry leaves to your daily diet to help prevent hair fall. As per the nutritionist, you can include curry leaves in your diet in the form of soups, dals, etc.
3. Apply Homemade Oil

All you need is mustard oil, almond oil, castor oil, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, and rosemary leaves. Apply it 30 minutes to 1 hour before washing your hair and say hello to healthy and shiny hair.
4. Eat Foods Rich in Iron And Folic Acid
Iron and folic acid are important for hair growth, and their deficiencies can lead to hair fall. According to the nutritionist, include 1 teaspoon of spirulina, Halim seeds, or moringa in your diet, or eat dates and figs regularly to boost your iron and folic acid levels.
5. Add Protein To Your Diet

Foods To Avoid For Healthy Hair
Diet plays a huge role in maintaining healthy, shiny, and strong hair. Now that you know which foods may help you prevent hair fall during monsoon, take note of which foods you should avoid consuming.
1. Refined Flour
Refined flour has a high glycemic index (GI) that can cause an instant spike in blood sugar levels. This can have an adverse effect on our hair health and could lead to hair fall. Opt for healthier alternatives like brown rice or whole-grain bread instead of white bread or white rice.
2. Carbonated Drinks
Though they are fizzy and refreshing, carbonated beverages are a no-no for healthy hair. Several studies show that carbonated beverages can increase the risk of hair fall. So, instead of consuming colas, drink homemade coolers for natural freshness.
3. Fried Foods
Fried foods like chips, French fries, samosas, pakoras, etc., have high oil content that can lead to clogging of pores, making our scalps extra oily. This could lead to excessive hair fall and several hair-related issues.
4. Sugary Foods
As tempting as they are, sugary foods can cause hair fall like no other. This is because the high sugar content can cause inflammation and easily damage the hair follicles. So, stay away from sugary delights like candies, chocolates, etc.
