Peas tossed with the distinctive flavors of butter, garlic, asafoetida, coriander and chilli powder.

Ingredients of Mushy Peas

  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • Knob of butter
  • 1 onion, chipped
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • Pinch of asafoetida or hing
  • Pinch of garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp ground coriander
  • 300 gm peas

How to Make Mushy Peas

  1. 1.Simmer the peas in a pan for 6-7 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2.Heat the oil in a frying pan and add the butter, onion, chili powder, garlic and asafoetida.
  3. 3.Fry the mixture for 5 minutes or until the onions are soft.
  4. 4.Mix in the garam masala, cumin and coriander. Mix for a minute.
  5. 5.Then add the peas. Stir for a further 3 minutes.
  6. 6.And the mushy peas are ready to be served
